The kinetics of heterogeneous hydrolysis of methyl acetate over HD 8 ion exchange resin was studied in a fixed bed reactor. In tow different environments: microwave heating and conventional heating, the effects of reaction temperature and flow rate of stuff on reaction rate were investigated. Experimental results showed: microwave heating is better than the normal heating method. A macro kinetic equation for describing the hydrolysis of methyl acetate was developed, which is as follows: -r MeAc =-1W d c MeAc d t=k(c MeAc c H 2O -c MeOH c HAc /K) where: K= exp (1.3429 1088.5/T) k=5.339×10 3 exp (-5.489×10 4/RT), m 3/(kmol·min·kg), under normal heating k=2.716×10 4 exp (-6.468×10 4/RT), m 3/(kmol·min·kg), under microwave heating
