摘要:Wave velocity is a critical factor in ultrasonic testing and is significantly affected by the temperature. To improve the measuring accuracy of wave velocity, a high-temperature test system is set up and a measurement method is designed. The transverse wave velocities in four regularly applied high-temperature materials for pressure vessels (i.e., 304 stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, Q235A steel, and 45 steel) are researched from 25 °C to 500 °C. The results show that the transverse wave velocities decrease linearly with increasing temperature. The maximum error of the designed measurement method is less than 3%. The measurement error of this method was compared with that of the methods in the references. This method has the smallest error. Moreover, the mathematical models of transverse wave velocities in four materials are developed to quantify the effect of temperature on wave velocities. ? 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
