摘要:Morphologies of polymer grains produced from vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) polymer latex (including 10wt% PVA) by spray drying have been studied. The effects of inlet drying air temperature, solid content, and admixture (hydrophobic nano-silica) on the morphologies were investigated. It was demonstrated that spherical grains tend to be obtained from VAE latex with low solid content. VAE latex with high solid content leads to surface-identated grains under high temperature (>175 degrees C) but spherical grains under low or intermediate temperature (<155 degrees C). Meanwhile, the spherical grains coated with hydrophobic nano-silica are able to be obtained by addition of the silica into VAE latex.
