摘要:Transportation infrastructure is the "immune system" for cities to cope with various shocks and challenges. However, it is still not clear how highway transportation (TRANS) contributes to urban economic resilience (RES). In this context, we propose a theoretical framework from the perspective of factor allocation efficiency and spatial synergy. The Spatial Dubin model and the mediating effect model are adopted. The results indicate that the RES in cities exhibits certain variability when facing external shocks and internal instability, but overall, it shows an upward trend. TRANS has been shown to positively affect RES, yet this impact is not uniform across regions. The spatial spillover effects suggest that the positive impacts of TRANS improvements are not confined to local regions but also extend to neighboring areas, thereby fostering a broader regional economic resilience (RES) enhancement. In addition, reducing the mismatch level of traditional production factors and promoting the new production factor allocation efficiency are two important transmission mechanism. The above results are robust to a series of tests. Therefore, the findings provide strong support for systematically understanding of the influencing mechanism of highway transportation on economic resilience and offer insights for policy formulation to enhance RES.
