摘要:Topological defects in nematic liquid crystals (LCs) provide a unique platform for defect manipulation owing to their balance between stability and reconfigurability. Recent advances in LCs and their hybrid nanocomposite materials demonstrate great potential in opto-electronic applications and optical sensing due to their greater capacity to regulate optical responses to external stimuli. The molecular orientation induced by topological defects in LCs and their related optical properties provides new potential applications for microstructure modulation. In this work, topological defect line with circular patterns is prepared in nematic LCs using a dynamic photo-patterning system. Under the action of pressure, a kind of 180 degrees twisted structure in the circular pattern area can be generated through the transformation of topological defect line, leading to the appearance of structural colors. The pressure-dependent spectral measurements reveal a linear wavelength-pressure relationship, reaching a maximum sensitivity of 1.26 nm kPa-1. This stress-induced polarization filtering coloration provides a potential new approach for LCs in optical stress sensing.
