DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A substituted thiophene compound of formula (I) as a fluorescent dye, is new. D'-=X0O- or N(X1)(X2)-; X0-X2=H, alkyl, or modified alkyl; or X1+X2=(un)saturated heterocyclyl; ring B'=aryl or heteroaryl; R1=H, halo, nitro, alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, hydrophilic group or modified alkyl; R2=cyano, carboxy, keto, ester, amido, phosphonato, sulfonato, sulfone, sulfoxide, aryl, heteroaryl, alkyl or modified alkyl; R3=cyano; group (b)=group of formula (b1) or (b2); R'a,R'b=H, alkyl, or modified alkyl; or R'a+R'b=alicyclyl or aliphatic heterocyclyl optionally substituted by saturated aliphatic linear or branched 1-10C alkyl; R'c,R'd=H, halo, nitro, alkyl, aryl, hydrophilic group, or modified alkyl; Y1=-O-, -S-, -(S=O)-, or -(NR'i)-; R'i=H, alkyl or modified alkyl; Y2==O, =S, =S=O, or =NR'i; Y3=Y2 or =C(R'e)(CN);and R'e=R2. (i) The aryl or heteroaryl in R2 or R'e are optionally substituted by halo, nitro, hydrophilic group, alkyl or modified alkyl; (ii) The modified alkyl is 1-50C alkyl optionally substituted by halo, -O-, -OH, -CO-, -NO2 or -CN; (iii) The alicyclyl is 4-10-membered monocyclic or polycyclic alicyclyl; (iv) The aliphatic heterocyclyl is 4-10-membered monocyclic or polycyclic aliphatic heterocyclyl containing N, O, Si, -SO- or -SO2-; (iv) The aryl is 5-10-membered monocyclyl or fused bicyclic ring; (v) The heteroaryl is 5-10-membered monocyclic or fused bicyclic ring containing N, O, S or Si; (vi) The hydrophilic group is chosen from hydroxy, sulfonato, sulfato, phosphato, primary amino, secondary amino or tertiary amino; (vii) The monocyclic cycloalkylene is 4-7 membered cycloalkylene; (viii) The bicyclic cycloalkylene is 5-7 membered bicyclic cycloalkylene; (ix) The bridged aliphatic heterocyclyl is 5-20-membered bridged aliphatic heterocyclyl containing N, O, or S; and (x) The group (a) is optionally substituted by halo, nitro, hydrophilic group, alkyl or modified alkyl, and substituents are optionally couple to form (un)saturated alicyclyl or aliphatic heterocyclyl. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of compound (I).
