摘要:A novel method was developed to synthesize the TiN reinforced Ti3Al intermetallic matrix composite (IMC) coatings on Ti6A14V substrate. This method can be divided into two steps, namely deposition of Al coating on Ti6A14V substrate by using plasma spraying and laser nitriding in nitrogen atmosphere. The effects of nitrogen flow rate and laser scanning speed used in laser nitriding on the mechanical properties of the TiN/Ti3Al composite coatings, such as microhardness, elastic modulus and fracture toughness, were investigated. Results showed that the mechanical properties of coatings were strongly dependent on laser parameters. With increasing nitrogen flow rate or decreasing scanning speed, the amount and density of TiN phase in the coating increased, leading to increased microhardness and elastic modulus, and decreased fracture toughness.
