摘要:This paper demonstrates a simple and reliable configuration to control fluid flows in microfluidic chip. Such configuration is easy to establish and remarkable inexpensive. The whole system costs about 15 USD (except water pump). Water pump provides power to drive water into chip. The combination of T - junction and needle valve offers reliable adjustment of vacuum level. Turning up the needle valve leads to the decreasing of vacuum level in the chip, and turning down the needle valve leads to the increasing the vacuum level. Vacuum level is linearly proportional to volumetric velocity. The precision of manual operation is 5 kPa. We successfully apply this configuration to adjust two kinds of two-phase laminar flow: air-ethanol and perfluorodecalin (PFD)-water. Under different flow rate, the flow pattern may falls into different regimes. The laminar flow of ethanol and air could transfer to bubble. However, the laminar flow of water and PFD was not affected by flow rate.
