摘要:Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a critical age-related urological condition, which is often aggravated by obesity. Rose bee pollen, a traditional edible substance rich in free phenolic acids and flavonoids remains understudied for BPH. In this study, we confirmed its anti-BPH efficacy through both BPH-1 cells and TP-induced mice models. Firstly, we demonstrated that the enzymatically treated rose bee pollen extract (EEBP) targets cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), downregulates prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and inhibits the ERK1/2-NF-kappa B pathway, thereby suppressing growth factor expression in BPH model. Importantly, EEBP inhibited the COX-2 protein expression in BPH mice by approximately 85.8 %. Furthermore, we identified isorhamnetin, quercetin, and pelargonidin as the key bioactive components in EEBP through a combination of UHPLC-MS, transcriptomic analysis, and molecular docking screening. Notably, EEBP exerts anti-BPH activity in hyperlipidemia-aggravated condition through dual COX-2 inhibition and antioxidant activity. In conclusion, our research provides new insights into the anti-BPH efficacy mechanism of rose bee pollen and its clinical application in cases complicated with hyperlipidemia.
