摘要：卢梭的born equal在汉译的过程中,受到多重文化语境的制约和挤压,由超验价值转化为经验意义的"生而平等"。而格义式译法"本性平等"虽能保留原文的超越意义,却无法移植源语文化"自然状态"的神性意味,同时受到历史条件的限制未被接受。在源语文本、文化和译语文本、文化相互纠缠的张力中,卢梭平等观的译介是视界融合的过程。翻译的绝对忠实难以在经验世界实现,但作为译者追求的超越价值,仍有不可动摇的合理性。
The transcendent concept of equality, Jean Rousseau＇s ＇born equal ＇, has been translated as 生而平等, which works at the empirical level in the target culture. While another possible solution 本性平等 conveys the transcendent meaning but fails to bring out the hidden Divinity of Nature in the original text. Meanwhile, it has not been accepted due to the historical and social conditions. In the tension of the original and target texts/cultures, the translation of ＇born equal＇ is a ＇fusion of horizons＇. A perfectly faithful translation can never be achieved. However, faithfulness is still a transcendent value for all translating practice.
