The metal carbide or metal nitride is dititanium aluminum carbide, trititanium aluminum dicarbide, trititanium silicon dicarbide, tetratitanium silicon tricarbide, dititanium aluminum nitride, divanadium aluminum carbide, trivanadium aluminum dicarbide, tetravanadium aluminum tricarbide or tetravanadium silicon tricarbide. USE - Method for preparing two-dimensional transition metal carbides or nitrides (claimed). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of two-dimensional transition metal carbides or nitrides comprises mixing metal carbide or metal nitride and alkali uniformly, washing mixture with deionized water to obtain dispersed two-dimensional transition metal carbide or nitride colloid solution. The metal carbide or metal nitride is dititanium aluminum carbide, trititanium aluminum dicarbide, trititanium silicon dicarbide, tetratitanium silicon tricarbide, dititanium aluminum nitride, divanadium aluminum carbide, trivanadium aluminum dicarbide, tetravanadium aluminum tricarbide, tetravanadium silicon tricarbide, diniobium aluminum carbide, tetraniobium aluminum tricarbide, tetraniobium silicon tricarbide, ditantalum aluminum carbide, tritantalum aluminum dicarbide, or tritantalum silicon dicarbide. The alkali is potassium hydroxide, rubidium hydroxide, or cesium hydroxide.
