摘要:Fatigue life and reliability are the critical problems for long)lades design due to complicated stress state, wet steam and ggressive environment. In this report, the effects of stress ratio, urface properties, steam, and sodium -chloride (NaC1) aqueous;nvironments on the fatigue strength and fracture mechanisms >f Ti -6A1 -4V alloy have been investigated. Results indicate that..sidual compressive stress decreaks and vanishes finally with ncreasing stress ratio. Compared to fatigue crack originating -om surface for annealed specimens, the fatigue crack initiation,rtes are located in the interior of the specimen due to the effect if residual stress when low stress ratios are present. Fatigue,xperiments have been performed in saturated steam with low xygen content at 100 C and NaC1 aqueous at 80 C. Results ndicate that, for 0.1 stress ratio loading conditions, steam;nvironment demonstrates the most serious effect on the;ndurance limit with 12.3% reduction of fatigue strength. NaC1 queous leads to the 9.6% drop in fatigue strength :orresponding to 107 cycles of design life. For all corrosion;nvironments, cracks originated from the surface and no :orrosion pits were observed.
