摘要：As a platform for displaying cultural heritage, urban historic space is a living fossil of the city’s development history and a key element in constructing the city’s characteristics and identity. This paper focuses on the concept of "symbiosis." It aims to explore the interaction mechanism between the conservation of urban historic space and urban renewal, emphasizing the central role of the organic renewal strategy in coordinating the preservation of history and culture with the needs of modern urban development, as well as its far-reaching significance in promoting the path of sustainable urban development. The case of "Columbia Circle" reveals the framework of the organic renewal strategy for historic urban spaces, which centers on first digging deeper into and inheriting the historical lineage to ensure that the urban renewal project is rooted in the history and culture; second, seeking a harmonious symbiosis between historical preservation and modern functional needs to achieve a perfect blend of history and modernity; third, increasing community participation and making residents the critical players in the preservation and modernization of historic spaces; and third, making residents the essential players in the preservation and modernization of historic spaces. Third, to increase community participation, let residents become active participants in protecting and regenerating historical space, practice the concept of symbiosis, and build community consensus and emotional ties. Through practical exploration and theoretical analysis, we hope to contribute new perspectives and empirical experiences to the protection and renewal of urban historic space and to promote the wisdom regeneration and vitality continuation of landmark space. ?
