摘要:The compatibility and temperature-dependent phase behaviour of the system consisting of lyotropic liquid crystalline polymer poly(p-benzamide) (PBA), poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide) (PPTA) and H2SO4 were investigated by using the depolarized light intensity (DLI) technique and polarized light microscopy (PLM). It is shown that the DLI technique is valuable for following the phase transitions of lyotropic liquid crystalline polymer blends in solution. The results show that PBA and PPTA are not compatible in anisotropic solution, giving rise to coexisting phases over the whole range. This effect is probably due to different molecular conformations. A phase diagram for the PBA/PPTA/H2SO4 system, divided into five regions, is constructed based on the DLI measurements and PLM observations.
