摘要:Wound healing is a specific biological process related to the general phenomenon of growth and tissue regeneration. Wound healing progresses through a series of interdependent and overlapping stages in which a variety of cellular and matrix components act together to reestablish the integrity of damaged tissue and replacement of lost tissue. The objectives of this chapter is to evaluate the biological origin of wound healing with particular emphasis on oral cavity and showcase some novel chitosan based functional drug delivery systems which can be successfully incorporated into "dual action bioactive restorative materials" capable to induce in-vitro improved wound healing prototype and containing common antibiotic such as tetracycline, krill oil as an antioxidant, hydroxyapatite as a molecular bone scaffold, which is naturally present in bone and is reported to be successfully used in promoting healing. ? 2016 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
