摘要：国民党退据台湾后,出于反共和寻求美援的需要,一度支持自由主义杂志《自由中国》的创刊,该杂志成为从大陆四散的自由主义者在台湾集结的据点。在反共的前提下,自由主义者以《自由中国》为阵地,多方面对台湾国民党的威权统治提出激烈的批评,并提出了相应的政治主张。而当自由主义者与台湾本土精英结合准备组织新党之时,国民党拘禁雷震,《自由中国》停刊,台湾自由主义运动遭受重大挫折。
After the KMT retreated to Taiwan, it once supported the liberalism magazine Free China for the reason of anticommunism and seeking for aid from the US. With the prospect of anti , the liberalists strongly criticized the KMT for its authoritarian regime and put forward related political proposals on the base of Free China. But, when these liberalists began to unite a new Party with Taiwan native elites, Lei Zhen was arrested by the KMT and Free China had to be stopped, and the Taiwan liberalism suffered serious frustration.
