摘要:Methane decomposition is an essential hydrogen production process from fossil fuels with low-carbon or zero-carbon emissions and an atomic utilization rate of nearly 100%. Besides, methane decomposition requires the least energy (ΔH = 37.4 kJ/mol H2) than the other two major hydrogen production pathways: steam reforming of methane (ΔH = 63.3 kJ/mol H2) and electrolysis of water (ΔH = 285.8 kJ/mol H2), which indicates methane decomposition is the most cost-effective hydrogen production technology in the short term [1]. However, conventional methane pyrolysis is an energetically expensive process [2], and non-thermal plasma (NTP) can be a promising tool to decompose methane with low energy consumption. ? 2024 IEEE.
