摘要：传统上,对汉英整体意识和个体意识的研究结论有些片面,整体和个体被割裂开来,经不起两种语言语法形式表现的反证,没能给相关的应用研究尤其是翻译研究带来应有的启示。本文认为,讲汉语的人思维意识表现为个体语言结构之间的界限性弱,从而形成一个语言结构界限性弱的整体,语言结构表达的功能、内容之间往往没有明确的形式区分;而讲英语的人思维意识表现为个体语言结构之间的界限性强,从而形成一个语言结构界限性强的整体,语言结构表达的功能和内容往往有明确的形式区分。就此,本文指出汉英翻译中,译者需要进行思维方式转换,转换的策略就在于:对界限模糊的汉语形式,按照内容性质和功能性质作出区分,用界限清晰的英语结构形式表达相应的内容和功能。不过,由于汉英语言反映了思维方式存在的差异,译文无论如何都无法复制原文。
The traditional biased view of the differences between Chinese and English holistic and individual thinking modes results from the separation of 'whole' and 'part'. It is grammatically unjustifiable and inefficiently inspiring for relevant researches such as Chinese-into-English translation. As a matter of fact, it is observed that the unclear boundary between linguistic units and thus between their contents and functions in Chinese and the clear one in English represent fuzziness of Chinese thinking mode and clearness of the English one, whether holistically or individually. This observation comes up with a Chinese-into-English translation strategy, according to which a translator should identify the features of contents and functions conveyed in Chinese linguistic forms embodying fuzzy holism and individualism and reproduce the meanings and functions in English in spite of some inevitable loss of the originality.
