摘要：沃尔特·佩特的唯美主义中蕴含着深刻的自由精神。佩特继承了康德、席勒等关于艺术与自由的思想,在代表作《文艺复兴》中说明只有从艺术中才能获得自由的感觉。首先,美的鉴赏是知性与想象力的自由协调游戏,是自由的活动;第二,现代生活被分割成多种体系,只有在艺术中才能获得完整的人性,从而获得自由;第三,人们在现代社会中受到多种必然规律的束缚,只有通过审美的视角,用艺术精神看待生活,才能够获得自由的感觉。
This paper explores the relationship between aestheticism and freedom in Walter Pater’s aesthetic theory.Influenced by the aesthetic and cultural ideas of Kant,Schiller and Arnold,Pater expresses in Renaissance that only aesthetic contemplation yields the sense of freedom in modern life.First,the judgment of beauty is a free action as the object arouses the harmonious play of imagination and understanding.Secondly,modern life is fragmented in which a harnonious balance between the mind and the self as well as the outside world is impossible,only in art can man achieve the sense of completion and then freedom.Thirdly,modern life is dominated by the universality of natural laws,and only through the artistic point of view can man transcends the natural laws to achieve the sense of freedom.
