摘要：本文分析亨利‘詹姆斯的小说《女士画像》与沃尔特·佩特的唯美主义之间的关系，说明女主人公伊莎贝尔代表了佩特的审美无为的思想，体现了佩特通过审美无为获得人生的完整和自由的理想，而奥斯蒙德并不真正代表佩特的唯美主义精神。
This paper studies the reflection of Walter Pater＇ s aestheticism in Henry James＇ s The Portrait of a Lady, arguing that Isabel embodies the Paterian idea of being, representing Pater＇ s idea to seek a sense of completion and freedom through aesthetic contemplation on the modern society of fragmentation and determinism, whereas Osmond does not really incarnate the Paterian spirit of being.
