摘要：本研究通过对367名学生的问卷调查和访谈探究了非英语专业研究生的外语学习负动机因素。研究结果显示,"交际机会与意愿"、"与专业学习的冲突"和"自我效能"是造成研究生英语学习动机减退的重要因素。高水平组研究生因"课程设置与学习内容"引发的负动机强度显著高于低水平组,而低水平组因"自我效能"、"交流机会与意愿"、"学习经历"引发的负动机强度显著高于高水平组;不同内外部因素对研究生英语学习的自主性和持久性产生不同程度的影响。研究进而提出相应建议以提升非英语专业研究生的外语学习动机和学术素养。
This study investigates the demotivating factors of learning English for non-English major postgraduates through a questionnaire survey and interviews among 367 postgraduates. The findings show that the lack of communication opportunities and unwillingness to speak English, conflict between the major study and English study, and low self-efficacy are the main demotivating factors. The monotony and mismatch of course provision and learning materials trigger a higher intensity of demotivation in the students with high English proficiency than in those with low English proficiency, while the low self-efficacy, lack of communication opportunities and unwillingness to speak English, and unpleasant learning experiences lead to a higher intensity of demotivation in the students with low English proficiency than in those with high English proficiency;the internal and external demotivating factors affect in varying degrees the students’ autonomy and persistence in English learning. The study further puts forward some practical suggestions for improving non-English major postgraduates’ foreign language learning motivation and academic literacy.
