摘要：Reflection is integral to the professional practice of social workers. Research on professional reflection amongst Chinese social workers has been relatively scarce since social work emerged as a profession in China in the 1980s. This study analysed 492 online social work case logs and conducted eight in-depth interviews with experienced social workers to investigate how Chinese social workers reflect within their professional practice. Content analysis of case logs revealed that social workers' reflections typically focus on four dimensions: service recipients, professional roles, ethical principles, and service techniques. However, these reflections primarily describe the service process and often lack critical analysis and creativity. In-depth interviews with social workers provide corroboration and explanations of the above findings, revealing how individual training, organizational environments, and epistemological stance influence social workers' approaches to reflective practice. This article offers insights into the reflective practices of Chinese social workers and informs future professional training and supervision efforts. This study investigates how Chinese social workers engage in reflective practice through an analysis of 492 online case logs and eight in-depth interviews with experienced practitioners. The research reveals that reflections in the case logs predominantly focus on four key areas: service recipients, the role of social workers, ethical principles, and service techniques. However, these reflections are often descriptive and lack a critical perspective. The in-depth interviews provide further insights into why reflections may be insufficient, examining factors from individual, organizational, and epistemological viewpoints. The study also proposes the development of an indigenous reflection framework and offers recommendations for enhancing future professional training and supervision in social work.
