摘要：语言是文化的载体和交流的工具,文化是语言赖以生存和发展的土壤。汉英人名姓氏作为人类社会特有的现象,与语言的其他现象一样,同复杂的社会、文化有着广泛而深刻的联系,在应用中颇具“异曲同工”之趣。鉴于人类思维模式的相似性,着重从英汉两种语言在命名的文化心态、来源和命名习俗方面的差异,采用对比法来探讨它们在应用中带共性但易于忽略的问题,仅作姓名文化对比研究中的尝试性探索。
Language is the carrier of culture a nd the tool for communications while culture is the soil for the survival a nd develop-ment of language.As a phenomenon pec uliar to human beings,names,like other language phenomena,are extensively and profoundly connected with the complicated society and culture.In the light of simil arity of human thinking mode,this paper,by contrasting the differences of naming in cultural me ntality,origin,and convention,tr ies to make an exploration of the prob lems which are common but easy to be neglected in application.
