摘要：学术文本使用名物化表达常常是出于功能性的需要,所以此类翻译并不适合进行转类处理。汉语和英语的名物化现象具有一定的同源性,且都存在句法上的分层,但语言间的差异性使得英汉语名物化结构在形态特征、论元分布、语义角色的辨析途径以及句法分层上存在不对应的地方。文章通过比较英汉名物化的句法分层情况、不同层级名物化论元的实现方式和语义角色标记手段,探究学术文本中名物化表达的英汉翻译。研究发现,保留名物化表达的同时,可以通过句法环境、语序、介词和谓词、构词手段来标记名物化,从而表达内部和外部的语义关系,避免歧义的产生。
Nominalized expressions are often adopted in academic writings for functional reasons.This intentional choice of form renders the skill of“conversion”inappropriate for an exact translation under this specific circumstance.Although nominalization in Chinese shares a certain degree of homology with that in English,and they both show traits of stratification in terms of internal syntax structure,the fundamental differences between the two languages have resulted in asymmetries in morphological features,argument distribution,mean to identify theta roles,as well as syntactic stratification between them.In searching for an appropriate method to translate nominalized expressions in academic texts,this article compared the syntactic stratification of English and Chinese nominalization,and their distinct ways of realizing argument structure.This article founds that the external and internal semantic relations of a structure can be clarified by leveraging syntactic environment,word order,prepositions,and predicates,as well as lexicon means,so as to avoid ambiguity while preserving the original nominalized expression.
