摘要:Acetone reacts with n-hexanal to form 4-hydroxy-2-nonanone in the presence of aqueous KOH solution via addition reaction. The factors affecting on the reaction, including concentration and volume of KOH solution, molar ratios of acetone to n-hexanal, reaction temperature and reaction time, were investigated. The reaction was traced by Gas chromatograph and the resultant of the reaction was characterized by GC-MS. The results indicate that the reaction can be well conducted at 30°C in 10% aqueous KOH solution for 100 minutes with the molar ratio of acetone to n-hexanal = 5:1. The conversion ratio of n-hexanal is 89% and the selectivity of forming 4-hydroxy-2-nonanone is 88% under above conditions. 4-Hydroxy-2-nonanone could be employed for the elimination reaction without further purification. The factors affecting on the elimination reaction, including pH of reaction medium, reaction temperature and reaction time were studied. The results show that 3-nonen-2-one and 4-nonen-2-one are obtained in acidic medium (pH=2) at 100°C in 2 h. The conversion ratio is 90% and the selectivity of 3-nonen-2-one is 91%, which make the method more practical.
