As the contemporary Chinese society in drastic transition, people from a variety of occupa- tion background increasingly exhibit likeness to peasant-workers, including many occupations that are not stereotypical peasant-work jobs. This study examines this phenomenon by studying teachers who taught children of peasant workers in Guangzhou, China. The survey results indicate that there are striking similarities between these teachers and general peasant worker populations. They both are discriminated against by house- hold registration system and education system, and facing many problems such as heavy work burden, low wage, low employment stability, lack of insurance, and lose professional dignity and authority. By using the "peasant-worker regime", this study interprets this phenomenon at macro, mezzo and micro levels, respectively. In conclusion, as many people from lower socio-economic classes have developed similarities to peasant work- ers, it is important to expand the research spectrum and perspective that concerning this population, and develop the study of "peasant-workerization". In theory, this branch of study uses perspectives from class, labor, migration, stratification, and culture, in order to lead to implications to help vulnerable populations, correct societal problems and suggest practical interventions.
