摘要：本文通过对照若干本英汉、汉英以及英文原版词典指出在译介中国传统文化时若干意译之讹误。笔者试图以几本新近出版的翻译论著中的对等原则和不可译性等观点以及已经在英文原版词典中出现的音译为依据,考证中西方在对异族文化的兼容性和排外性上的差异,以揭示译介中国文化音译的重要性。
In the essay, the author means to point out some errors in the way of freely translating traditional Chinese cultures by contrasting several English-Chinese Chinese-English English-English dictionaries. Referring to the principles of counterparts and intranslatability treated in recently published works on translation, he intends to deal with the difference of Chinese and the Western world in their attitudes towards alien cultures, in their incorporations and exclusivenesses, so as to show the importance of transliteration in introducing Chinese cultures.
