摘要：NOVELTY - A polystyrene sulfonic acid catalyst comprises waste polystyrene raw material. USE - Polystyrene sulfonic acid catalyst used for catalytic esterification of polyol ester as lubricating oil base; and monobasic acid esterification of monohydric alcohol (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has low cost, high esterification rate, simple and convenient processing technology, and it achieves high esterification product viscosity index of not less than 100. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) preparation of catalyst comprising recycling waste polystyrene with ethyl acetate and methylene chloride solvent, sulfonating with fuming sulfuric acid, and washing with acetone to purify; (2) catalytic esterification of polyol ester comprising esterifying hydroxyl-containing polyol compound including but not limited to oleic acid, isononanoic acid and ethylhexanoate with 0.1-5 wt.% catalyst; and (3) monobasic acid esterification of monohydric alcohol comprising esterifying monobasic acid including but not limited to acetic acid, propionic acid and acrylic acid with monohydric alcohol including but not limited to propyl alcohol and butanol in the presence of 0.1-5 wt.% catalyst.
