摘要:Functional groups were grafted on the surface of PTFE to improve the compatibility between polar PA6 matrix and the PTFE filler. Surface defluorinated PTFE in powdery form was modified by epsilon-caprolactam melt using a chemical treatment at high temperature. The modified PTFE was added to PA6 to produce PA6/PTFE blends with good mechanical property. FTIR and contact angle analysis results showed that epsilon-caprolactam had been successfully reacted with -COOH functional groups grafting on the surface of PTFE. EDS results showed that the epsilon-caprolactam content accelerated the modification reaction and reaction time had a threshold effect on it. Abrasion test and SEM analysis of worn surface showed that the PTFE modified by epsilon-caprolactam could greatly improve the abrasive resistance of PA6. The blends had a friction coefficient as low as 0.19 for a particular reaction condition as compared to 0.58 for PA6. Mechanical properties showed that the tensile strength and modulus were enhanced by 19.5 and 14.7% respectively for the PA6/modified PTFE blends compared with the PA6/PTFE blends which is due to the good compatibility between PTFE modified bye-caprolactam and PA6.
