摘要：《中式英语之鉴》中的中式英语语料主要来自英语水平较高的汉语母语者的政治文献翻译和英语写作。作者从词汇和句子层面两个角度描写和分析了中式英语。作者有着丰富的政治文献翻译审校经验,且以英语母语使用者的视角出发,给此书使用者带来许多有意义的启发,对中国的汉英翻译和英语写作的实践及其教学都产生了广泛而又深入的积极影响。然而,作者没有深入阐述“中式英语”产生的原因,不利于引导读者避免类似的“中式英语”。本文对该书中提到的中式英语重新做了梳理,并指出,汉语界限性弱而英语界限性强是影响中式英语产生的首要原因,汉语母语使用者使用英语时需要把不够清晰的汉语话语界限压缩为英语话语所需的清晰界限,并添加界限标记。
Pinkham,the author of The Translator’s Guide to Chinglish,provides abundant Chinglish selected from political documents by Chinese-speaking translators or writers.She inspires Chinese-speaking translators and writers with her analysis based on her rich experiences as an English-speaking polisher.With an exploration of the motivations for the Chinglish from another perspective,this paper formulates a strategy for avoiding Chinglish:Deleting redundant expressions in Chinglish by clarifying the boundary between meaning units with a full understanding of the original meaning.It ends with some suggestions for future research.
