摘要：本研究以两套高中英语新编教材为例,调查了上海市18,505名高中英语学习者使用新编教材的情况,着重探究学习者的教材观、课内外教材使用行为以及新编教材的使用效果。调查结果显示:(1)高中英语学习者的教材观以“资源”类为主,呈现鲜明的“工具性”特征;(2)学习者的教材使用行为体现“教师主导性”,与教材互动的模式普遍以“单线型”为主,而英语水平较高的学习者则更偏向于“圆圈型”模式;(3)使用新编教材对学习者核心素养中文化意识发展的促进作用最为明显,同时能够提高学习者对英语的学习兴趣。基于调查结果,本文建议外语教师应培养学生使用教材的自主性;学习者也应丰富对教材的认识,在课外主动使用各类教材增加语言输入。本研究揭示了新编教材的实际使用样态,是外语学习者教材使用研究的重要补充,为基础教育阶段的英语教材使用与教学改进提供了实证启示。
Taking two newly complied English textbooks for senior high schools as examples,this study investigated the materials use of 18,505 senior high school learners of English as a foreign language in Shanghai,China,with a focus on their beliefs of language textbooks,in-and out-ofclass materials use behaviors,and the impact of using the new textbooks.The findings revealed that:(1)The learners generally regarded language textbooks as resources,indicating their strong instrumental view of the textbooks;(2)The learners’materials use behaviors were primarily teacher-directed,with their interaction patterns aligning mostly with a“linear”model,whereas high-achieving learners tended to adopt a more“circular”model;(3)The use of the newly compiled textbooks promoted the development of learners’key competencies,especially their cultural awareness,and also enhanced their interest in English learning.The study offered implications for language teachers to foster learners'autonomy in materials use.It also advocated for EFL learners to diversify their beliefs of language textbooks and actively engage with various types of materials to increase language input beyond the classroom.By illuminating the actual enactment of the newly compiled textbooks,this study provided a crucial contribution to research on language learners'materials use as well as empirical support for using teaching materials and refining instructional practices of basic English education in China.
