摘要：汉语和英语在句法上面一个显著差异表现在汉语是注重话题的语言,而英语是注重主语的语言。汉译英要重视主语的选择,因为英语主语对全句具有全面密切的关系,它是谓语讨论或描写、叙述的对象。英译汉要重视话题的选择,因为话题是一个语篇概念,它可以而且经常将其语义管辖范围扩展到多个子句。
Chinese is topic-prominent and English is subject-prominent. In Chinese-English translation, the placement of subject deserves much attention, for subject has a comprehensive influence upon the structure of a sentence. In English- Chinese translation, the placement of topic should be given much attention, for topic is a discourse unit and it could have semantic ties with more than one sentence.
